We’re here for your pet’s emergency medication needs.
At our in-house pet pharmacy, we carry a carry a wide array of emergency medications including antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, anti-nausea, pain medication, and injection medications. In an emergency situation, our veterinarians will prescribe what is needed for your pet.
“I brought my five-year-old goldendoodle, Fonzi, to the hospital at 11 pm on a Friday. He had suffered eight seizures that day, despite being treated at our regular veterinarian. He had to stay overnight to receive IV anti-seizure medication… They were very busy that night but due to our circumstances, our dog was seen promptly. I would definitely recommend this place if your pet is in trouble. Thank you, Animal Emergency Hospital!!!”
Pet Pharmacy FAQs
Can I get a pet prescription without seeing a vet?
We do not offer prescription refills here from regular veterinarians. If you have had an exam done with one of our doctors, the doctor will prescribe any necessary medications for your pet. Following an emergency visit with us, all patients visit their regular veterinarians for any needed follow-up care and refills.
Does pet insurance cover medication?
Pet insurance can provide coverage for medications prescribed by your veterinarian. Depending on your policy, medications may be covered partially or in full. Contact your pet's insurer and our veterinary team to learn what is covered under your specific plan.
Can you get pet prescriptions from a regular pharmacy?
It is possible to get pet prescriptions from human pharmacies. However, not all local pharmacies may have the medication your pet needs. To ensure your pet gets the necessary medications, it's best to first check with us, and then ask the pharmacist at your local pharmacy if they carry the needed prescription for your pet.
Will my vet charge me for a prescription?
We understand that the cost of prescriptions can vary widely, and we want you to get the medication your pet needs. We are happy to answer any questions about prescription charges, so please don't hesitate to ask us if there are any fees associated with your pet's prescription.
