Melissa B., LVT

Jeanette G., LVT

Melissa has been a part of Animal Emergency Hospital since 2004. She earned her Bachelor of Science in veterinary technology from Michigan State University in 2000. One of the highlights of being an LVT for her is the reward of being able to help people and their pets in their time of crisis. When she’s not caring for patients, she spends her time reading and being outdoors in the country and the woods. She also loves farms. In fact, she initially wanted to be a farm veterinarian before she began planning a family. Melissa married her high school sweetheart, Mitch, and has three sons, Andrew, Dylan, and Elijah. She has two yellow Labs, Cash and Valor; two cats, Otis and Tootles; and fish.

Jeanette Walton joined our team in 2014 after earning her Associates of Applied Science degree from Baker’s Veterinary Tech Program. She is a licensed veterinary technician, both for the State of Michigan and nationally. She loves working with her patients, seeing new cases, and learning more by hands-on experience. When she’s not caring for pets at AEH, she cares for her own pets, Oscar, a Boxer/Pitbull mix; and Mikey and Izzy, DSH sibling cats. She also enjoys spending time with her boyfriend and her three children hunting, fishing, and working outside on her 40-acre farm.

Todd joined our team in November 2015 as a second-year veterinary technology student at Baker College of Flint. He lives on campus and currently has a beta fish named Herman that keeps him company during his long hours studying from his dorm. His favorite part of being on staff at Animal Emergency Hospital is working in a place of unpredictability. “You truly never know what’s going to come on any given day. This teaches you to be prepared for anything and has the opportunity to teach you valuable lessons with every unique case that comes through the door,” he says. When he’s not at work, he still enjoys being around animals, raising them. At one time before moving to Flint to continue his education, he had a sort of hobby farm of his own that included cows, chickens, ducks, pheasants, sheep, and goats. Upon graduation, Todd hopes to begin his career as an LVT practicing zoo medicine.

Mortisa M., Asst.

Katelyn E., Asst.

Mortisa, who has been a part of our team for more than 15 years, absolutely loves caring for our overnight patients. She is such a capable and compassionate veterinary assistant; we have no idea what we would do without her! Her love for animals is evident in her personal life as well, where she has a number of pets. They include: Fearious, an 8-year-old Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix; Lexi, a 2-year-old Poodle mix; Baby Boy, a 10-year-old DLH; Baby Girl, a 9-year-old DMH; and Bruno, an almost 2-year-old Chihuahua. Tish is the mother of 2 beautiful daughters and the proud grandmother of one sweet granddaughter. She loves spending time with them, and also engaging in her two favorite hobbies, roller skating and fishing.

Katelyn is one of the newest members of the Animal Emergency Hospital team. When asked about her position, she said she loves coming to work every day without knowing what’s going to walk through the door. “It keeps you on your toes!” she said. She shares her home with two tortoiseshell calico cats named Hattie and Hazely. In her spare time, she enjoys playing soccer, horseback riding, and doing anything outdoors.

Jennifer S., Asst.

LeeAnn Z., Asst.

Jennifer, one of our veterinary assistants, has been a part of our team since 2006! She makes caring for animals her number one priority, and it’s her favorite aspect of working at Animal Emergency Hospital. Her own fur children include Macy, a Toy Fox Terrier; Hunter, a Lab; and Pita, a DSH. Jennifer loves playing flyball with Macy. She is excited to announce that Macy will get an award for being the fastest Toy Fox Terrier in her U-FLI league (United Flyball International).

LeeAnn has been a part of our team since 2013. She understands how important it is to pet owners to have our after-hours service and she is so glad to be able to be there for pet owners and their companions. She is married to Larry, her husband of 22 years, and she has two children. Together they have a number of pets: Lola, Chief, Darla, and Pippy, American Bulldogs; Hogan, a Pit Bull; and Orkala and Orphelia, Degus. When she isn’t working, LeeAnn enjoys traveling with her husband on their Harley and roller skating, which is one of her secret talents.
